How To Get Your Wardrobe Spring Ready
on officially the third day of spring I am reorganizing my wardrobe to make it more spring ready. Since I don't have a Mariah Carey walk-in closet, I really need to be selective with the amount of space I have.
Now that it's spring, the sun is shining more and temperatures will begin to rise, I won't be needing all those warm, fuzzy and snuggly sweaters and jumpers anymore (Thank God). It's time for more brighter colors and less layers of clothing!
I actually don't remember what spring/summer items I have that I can still wear this year or that need to be thrown out. I will organize my closet by following 4 steps.
1. Take care of my winter clothes
2. Inventorize my spring/summer clothes
3. Make a list of what I still need or want
4. Create 5 ready to-go outfits
Take care of my winter clothes
So first of all I need to take care of my winter clothing. They need to be piled neatly and put in the upper shelve of my closet (where I currently have all my summer stuff). All my shorts, t-shirts, and thin knitwear will be put on shelves and need to be more visible for me and easily to grab. All my blouses, dresses and jackets are hanging. I will go through these all to see what is still wearable in summer. The ones that aren't for summer I will put in garment bags so that they stay beautiful for next fall/winter.
Inventorize your spring/summer clothes
Next I'm making stacks of all my t-shirts and light knitwear and taking a good look at the state of everything. Every item get's the question 'Will I wear you again this season?' I'm making 3 different piles with "No, Yes and Maybe" as an answer. When I'm finished I take the "Maybe" pile and think of an outfit to wear with the item. If I can't think of an outfit it goes to the "No" pile. When I finish it will become clear to me what I still need and want to complete my spring/summer wardrobe..
Make a list of what I still need or want
I will write down all my needs and wants on a list for my next onlineshopping evening (I might do that this saturday) #cantwait! This really helps me to not get distracted by all the beautiful things I see online and keeps me focussed of what I really need. Impulse purchases are for when I already have everything on my list :)
Create 5 ready to-go outfits
Creating outfits really help me when I have to wake-up early and don't really have time to think about what to wear. It also helps to make an outfit look more put together because when you have time to think about your outfit, you rarely forget about the details that gives it that finished look.
I'm so ready now for this season to truly begin! Can't wait for those warmer days #WhoopWhoop
